Refractory mortar is used in kiln lining construction to bond refractory bricks. It has strong adhesion and is also called high temperature binder. Its function is to fill the cracks of bricks and make the bricks as a whole.
The high temperature performance of the mortar refers to the performance of ensuring that the refractory bricks work at high temperatures.
The main indicators refractory motors are as follows:
l Fire resistance is sufficient;
l Sufficient bond strength can bond the masonry into a solid whole at working temperature;
l Small drying shrinkage, high residual shrinkage value at high temperature, and no cracking of brick joints after high temperature use;
l The apparent porosity and air permeability are small, and the air tightness is good;
l Can resist the erosion of gas, slag and molten iron;
l The thermal expansion coefficient is the same as that of refractory bricks. Due to the different working temperature and operating conditions of blast furnace and its ancillary equipment, different types and compositions of mortar should be selected for different masonry.
The general regulations for the use and preparation of refractoy mortar are as follows:
u When building refractory products, the fire resistance and chemical composition of the refractory mortar should be compatible with the fire resistance and chemical composition of the refractory products. According to the temperature and operating conditions of the furnace, the performance indicators such as the type of refractory mortar are selected.
u Finished refractory mortar shall be used for masonry blast furnace, and the particle size shall not exceed 30% of the masonry brick joints.
u Before the blast furnace is built, the consistency of the refractory mortar and the amount of water added should be determined according to the type of masonry, and whether the masonry properties (mainly the bonding time) of the refractory mortar can meet the requirements of the masonry.The bonding time of the refractory slurry depends on the material and shape of the refractory product, and the general time should be 1 to 1.5 minutes.
u The consistency of refractory mortar should be adapted to the type of masonry. Mortars of different consistency are suitable for different types of masonry.
u When adjusting the refractory mortar, weigh accurately and stir evenly. No water or binders should be added to the prepared mortar. The stirring water should be clean water. In coastal areas, when mixing mortar, tests should be carried out, and the chloride ion depth should not be greater than 300mg/L.
u When using different refractory slurries at the same time, mixers and other equipment must not be mixed use, prohibit misused. The mortar that was stirred during the day should be used up on the same day.
