Fused silica bricks are produced by melting natural high-purity silica in an electric furnace at a temperature above 1760 °C, followed by rapid cooling. During the melting process, the crystalline silica is converted into an amorphous glass melt.

The melting temperature of fused silica brick is about 1713 °C, the thermal conductivity is low, and the thermal expansion coefficient is almost the smallest among the currently applicable refractories, so it has good thermal shock stability.
