High-alumina refractory bricks are refractory brick products produced by using alumina as raw material and through supporting production processes. For the different applications of high-alumina bricks in kilns, there are two types of products: light-weight high-alumina bricks and heavy-weight high-alumina bricks. So, what are the differences between lightweight high-alumina bricks and heavy-duty high-alumina bricks? Are they the same performance?
Lightweight high-alumina brick, also known as high-alumina thermal insulation brick. Lightweight refractory material with alumina content of more than 48%, mainly composed of mullite and glass phase or corundum. The bulk density is 0.4~1.35g/cm3, the porosity is 66%~73%, the compressive strength is 1~8MPa, and the thermal shock resistance is good.
Lightweight high-alumina bricks have the characteristics of high compressive strength, low thermal conductivity, good thermal insulation performance and low price. It has been widely used in ceramic tunnel kilns, roller kilns, shuttle kilns, wall kilns, as well as various heating furnaces, coking furnaces and other thermal equipment in the iron and steel industry, heat treatment lining materials, etc., and has broad market prospects. .
Heavy-duty high-alumina brick, also called high-alumina brick, is a neutral refractory material with an alumina content of more than 48%. Formed and calcined from bauxite or other raw materials with high alumina content. High thermal stability, refractoriness above 1770 ℃.
Heavy high alumina bricks have excellent fire resistance, strong slag resistance and moderate softening temperature under load. Mainly used for the lining of blast furnaces, hot blast stoves, electric furnace tops, blast furnaces, reverberation furnaces and rotary kilns.
First of all, from a literal understanding, lightweight high-alumina bricks and heavy-duty high-alumina bricks are completely different products. The essential purpose of lightweight high-alumina bricks is thermal insulation and thermal insulation. In normal use, it is not in direct contact with the furnace temperature, and is a kind of refractory brick product with heat insulation and heat preservation effect, which is close to the furnace wall.
Heavy duty high-alumina bricks are many times heavier than light-weight high-alumina bricks. They are not used for thermal insulation, but more importantly, for refractory temperature. Direct contact, so heavy high alumina bricks usually have the effect of high temperature resistance.
Therefore, lightweight high-alumina bricks and heavy-duty high-alumina bricks not only have different names, but also have very different functions. We need to choose the appropriate high-alumina series refractory brick products according to the actual needs of the kiln, and work together to build an excellent kiln equipment.
