Types and uses of alkaline refractory bricks

1. Chrome brick

① High refractoriness, but low high temperature strength;

② The price of refractory bricks is medium and the density is high;

③ close to chemical neutrality;

④Poor thermal stability;

Uses: Bricks for isolation of acid bricks and alkaline bricks. Hearth of heating furnace, individual parts of lead melting furnace and other metallurgical furnaces, combustion chamber of alkali recovery furnace.

2. Forsterite brick

①Weakly alkaline;

②Refractoriness and softening point under load are all high;

③ The density and thermal conductivity of refractory bricks are small;

④ Contact with iron oxide at high temperature is prone to structural spallation;

Uses: high temperature parts of lime kilns and various non-ferrous metal smelting furnaces (furnace top position).

3. Magnesia chrome brick

①Refractoriness and softening point under load are high, but the mechanical strength at high temperature is not large;

② Strong resistance to alkaline slag and strong ash melting, but when the temperature is above 1600 ℃, it will burst due to the absorption of iron oxide;

③It is stronger than chrome and magnesia refractory bricks, but it will become fragile when the temperature rises and falls repeatedly, especially when it is used at a high temperature below 1600 °C, it is very harmful;

④The thermal expansion rate, thermal conductivity and density are all large;

⑤ The price of refractory bricks is higher.

Uses: basic steelmaking furnace (furnace roof, front and rear walls, ascending channel, slag chamber, furnace bottom, etc.); hot spot of cement rotary kiln; lower part of soaking furnace; high temperature parts of heating furnace and hearth, aluminum steel and others Refining and melting furnaces for non-ferrous metals, combustion chambers of alkali recovery furnaces

4. Magnesia brick

①Refractoriness and softening point under load are all high, but high temperature mechanical strength is low;

②It is strongly alkaline, and has considerable corrosion resistance to alkaline slag;

③Poor thermal stability and weak resistance to water vapor;

④ The density of refractory bricks is high, and the price of refractory bricks is higher

Application: Basic open hearth furnace (heart, furnace bottom), mixed iron furnace (lower part), alkaline electric furnace (furnace bottom, furnace wall), copper, nickel and other non-ferrous metal smelting furnaces.

5. Baiyun Bricks

①High refractoriness;

② Strong slag resistance to alkaline slag;

③ There are many varieties (semi-stabilized; stabilized magnesite, etc.)

Uses: Alkaline steelmaking furnace (converter, electric furnace, open hearth) lining, chemical kiln.
