Reasons and Solutions for Wind Cracks in Refractory Bricks

Refractory bricks often experience wind cracking during the production process. What are the reasons for this phenomenon?

(1) Temperature differential stress

During the baking process, there is a temperature difference inside the refractory brick, resulting in stress.


(2) The stress of crystal transformation

The crystal form of fire-resistant bricks will change during the heating process. If the crystal form changes too fast, excessive stress will be generated, resulting in cracking of fire-resistant bricks;


(3) Mechanical pressure

The mechanical load on the refractory brick causes the inelastic deformation of the refractory brick to cause damage.

1. Strengthen the weathering and humidification of the raw materials of refractory bricks. All raw materials and internal fuels should be mixed evenly, and impurities in the raw materials should be removed in time to ensure uniform drying and shrinkage.

2. Repair the batching equipment in time to make the batching equipment meet the technical requirements to ensure the quality of batching and mixing. Avoid uneven cracking of the green body caused by the previous process such as raw material crushing, stirring, and extrusion due to equipment reasons.


3. Repair and replace the reamer on the refractory brick extruder in time to prevent cracks caused by excessive wear of the reamer, unbalanced extrusion speed of raw materials, and inconsistent compactness of the green body.
