How to cool refractory bricks?

We all know that refractory bricks are fired at high temperature, so how to cool refractory bricks?

1. Cool with the furnace

After the insulation is completed, the power supply can be cut off to allow the high-alumina refractory material to cool naturally. When the temperature drops to 200 degrees, the furnace can be opened. The method is easy to operate, low in labor intensity, and has no special requirements for bricks, especially for bricks produced by small kilns. For large furnaces, the heat capacity is too large and the natural heat dissipation process is slow. In order to shorten the production cycle, appropriate ventilation and heat dissipation measures should be taken.

2. Quenching and cooling

The adoption of this cooling method is due to the requirements of refractory brick structure and performance. If necessary and possible, methods such as water quenching, oil quenching, asbestos and other inorganic powder quenching, blast quenching or air quenching can be used.

3. Insulation and slow cooling

According to the structure and heat capacity of the kiln, a small amount of heating and slow cooling can be used to make the furnace temperature drop slowly at a slower rate. This method is suitable for large-scale refractory brick products with complex structure, large linear expansion coefficient or polycrystalline transformation during cooling. For small bricks, it is not necessary to delay the production cycle in order to avoid energy consumption.
