How many types of refractory mud ?

Refractory mud has magnesium, high alumina and clay fire mud. Different types of brick masonry use different fire mud. Various refractory muds can generally use water glass as a binder.

The quality requirements of refractory mud are as follows:

Good construction performance, with appropriate fineness, viscosity, ductility, water retention, and easy to obtain the required thickness of brick joints.

It has strong adhesion and hardness at operating temperature, and is resistant to gas erosion and wear.

Brick joints cannot expand and contract due to drying and burning.

The chemical composition is the same as that of bricklaying.

Necessary fire resistance.

The refractory mud produced by refractory material manufacturers can be divided into: dry soil refractory mud, high alumina refractory mud, silicon refractory mud, magnesium refractory mud, etc.

Refractory mud can be divided into the different categories according to the different binders:Ceramic bonded refractory mud is a mixture of refractory aggregate and ceramic binder (plastic mud). The delivery state is dry, and it needs to be used after adding water.

Refractory mud is a mixture of cement and chemical binders. The delivery state can be slurry or dry, below the hardening temperature of the ceramic combination. According to the hardening temperature, the refractory slurry can be divided into gas hardness and thermal hardness.

Gas hard refractory grouts are usually made of water glass and other gas hard binders. Thermosetting refractory mortars are usually made of thermosetting binders such as phosphates. After this kind of hot-hardening refractory slurry is hardened, it has the characteristics of small shrinkage, tight joints and strong corrosion resistance.

Refractory mud is divided into finished products and semi-finished products. The so-called finished refractory mud means that the manufacturer has prepared the raw materials and clinker according to the proportion, and only needs to add water and stir evenly according to the standard when using on site. When used on site, it can be fully mixed according to the composition of different muds, and water should be added to stir evenly according to the regulations. Refractory mud is a shaped refractory material composed of powder materials and binders, mainly used for joints and coatings of masonry refractory bricks.

As a joint material, its quality has a considerable influence on the quality of the masonry, and the dimensional error and irregular shape of the bricks can be adjusted to make the masonry neat and load balanced, so that the masonry forms a strong and tight whole to resist external forces to prevent the intrusion of gas and molten liquid. When used as a coating, the quality of refractory mud is closely related to whether the protective layer can fully play its due role. High-quality refractory mud can prolong the service life of the kiln. Most refractory slurries are mixed with water (or aqueous solutions) to form slurries. The refractory mud has good fluidity and plasticity, ensuring that it is integrated with the masonry or the bottom layer, and has the effect of resistance to gas and slag erosion; the refractory mud should keep the same chemical composition as the masonry or the bottom layer material to avoid chemical reactions between different materials ; The refractory mortar should maintain a similar thermal expansion to that of the masonry or base material to ensure the integrity and tightness of the masonry and protective layer.
